I am absolutely delighted to be able to write a testimonial for Dr Indira Ghatak. My son was preparing for the very competitive London day School exam entry process last year . He is a bright capable boy but was struggling a little with the pace and expectations. My son was also more focused on sport rather than schoolwork. Dr Ghatak met with me and my son and immediately developed a rapport and did an initial assessment without my son even realising. She then went on to provide me with techniques for developing a positive attitude both towards the work required and also skills to enhance his confidence in the run up to the tests and the interviews. My son went on to secure a place at his first choice school ( 7 applicants for every place). I then used similar techniques in my younger son who went thought the same process this year and he too managed to secure a place in his first choice school ( 10 applicants for every place). Dr Ghatak combines her immense experience in teaching at top schools with her insight as a mother whose children have been through the process. She has a holistic all round approach which maximises a child's ability and hard work with a healthy mental attitude and positive self esteem to produce happy, motivated successful children.
For me, exam period was like an internal World War 3 scenario. Due to uncontrollable nerves and a lack of confidence, I was unable to perform to my ability and get the grade I deserved. This all changed when I met Dr Ghatak. Her holistic approach to education meant that emotional and cognitive issues were addressed first as they were the stumbling blocks to my academia. I realised I had been revising the wrong way throughout my student life and combined with Dr Ghatak's mentoring and teaching methods, I found studying for exams both efficient and enjoyable. I urge every student to take full advantage of the wealth of knowledge and experience that Dr Ghatak is graciously sharing. This book will undoubtedly gear you up for achieving higher grades like it did for me.
I met Dr Ghatak half way through year 12. At that point I was under a lot of stress, and was continually failing in my mini tests at school with grades averaging at a C. My teachers were surprised by this as in previous years I had managed to achieve better, but the jump to A levels was a big surprise to me. I realised my two main problems were my studying technique and my mentality whilst studying. Mrs Ghatak not only helped me organise my time more efficiently ( with timetables, folders etc.), she elevated my consciousness whilst studying. By advising me to not think of grades and other statistics that caused me stress and instructing me on how to make myself healthier by methods such as yoga, I optimised my speed of learning and clarity of thought. Thus not only did she help me raise myself from almost failing my A levels to getting A*A*A at A2, she made me a more all-rounded student with a higher quality of life. All I can say is a heartfelt thank you, and I strongly advise all to follow her methods which are expertly set out in this book.
